Promoting the research and development of rescue and safety

|
The Rescue & Safety Institute (RSI) is a training and research organization whose mission is to promote the research and development of rescue and safety in the professional rescue community and private industry.
RSI provides rescue and safety training and emergency service consulting to all Emergency Services at Local, State, National and International Levels. Emergency Service Agencies include; Fire Rescue Services & Departments, Police Services, Coast Guards, Emergency Management Agencies, Civil Protection Agencies, International Rescue Agencies and the Military.
RSI conducts research into rescue techniques, both new and old, that are commonly used in the professional and volunteer rescue community and industrial rescue teams. This research is used to develop training programs and emergency management systems.
Research of rescue equipment is conducted by RSI to ensure the emergency service community is provided with the best equipment available. This research is then used to develop new equipment if necessary.
For example, RSI in conjunction with Takashina Life Preservers designed, developed and tested a complete set of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be used in Swiftwater and flood rescue. This includes a Personal Flotation Device (PFD or commonly called a lifejacket), wetsuit, drysuit, helmet, throwbag, gloves and boots. This equipment is essential to help our emergency rescue service professionals operate safely and effectively.
